题目：Liquid Crystal Droplets and Sharp Interface Models

摘要：

Liquid crystal droplets are of great interest from theory andapplications. They are important in studies of the topological defects(both in a bulk and on a surface), in understanding of an-isotropicsurface energy and anchoring conditions for liquid crystal configurations.Rigorous mathematical analysis are challenging and there remain manyopen problems. In this lecture I shall describe some recent developmentsconcerning the liquid crystal droplets and sharpinterface limits inseveral models.

主讲人简介：

林芳华教授是美国科学与艺术院院士，美国纽约大学柯朗研究所的Julius Silver首席教授，1981年毕业于浙江大学数学系，1985年获美国明尼苏达大学数学博士学位。他于1989年分别荣获Presidential Young Investigator和Alfred P. Sloan Fellow，于2002年获美国数学会 Bocher奖，于2004年获华人数学家大会陈省身奖。主要研究兴趣包括经典和应用分析，偏微分方程，几何测度论，以及变分运算，著有200多篇学术论文和多本专著：《Elliptic Partial Differential》, 《Geometric Measure theory：An Introduction》 and 《The Analysis Of Harmonic Maps And Their Heat Flows》。
